Over the last few months we’ve been taking a look at some great hiking trails in Palm Springs. This time we’re going slightly further afield than the city boundaries and looking at some beautiful hikes in the Greater Palm Springs area.

If you've visited Palm Springs before—or checked online for great places to eat—you're no doubt familiar with Workshop Kitchen + Bar, which is located in the historic El Paseo Building on North Palm Canyon Drive. In 2015, the restaurant became Palm Springs’ first James Beard award winner for Outstanding Restaurant Design (in the category of over 75 seats).

Although Debbie Alexander, the owner of Peabody's Café, didn't dream up the name of her restaurant, she still feels an affinity with the monikier. "The name came from the Peabody Hotel in Memphis and was the name of the restaurant when I bought it back in 1994," she says. "Peabody is also a big name where I’m from in Massachusetts.

Located at the intersection of East Palm Canyon Drive and Sunrise Way, the Saguaro immediately catches your eye. It's brightly hued exterior is painted in 14 different desert wildflower colors that are native to California's Colorado Desert. William Kopelk, a local architect, designed the gardens and when everything blooms the colors match those of the building.
